Mike Mahtook snapped a 4-4 tie with an RBI double, and LSU padded the lead with the help of two walks, two hit batters, a passed ball, a wild pitch and an error in the sixth. Only two of the five runs LSU scored in the inning were earned. LSU captured the title for the sixth time, tying Texas for second on the all-time list.
