Ekpe Udoh scored the go-ahead basket with 25 seconds left and Quincy Acy made two big defensive plays at the end to give 24th ranked Baylor a 55-53 victory over Nebraska last night.  LaceDarius Dunn scored 19 points to lead the Bears, and Udoh had six blocks to go with eight points and nine rebounds.  Myles Holley scored a career-high eleven points for Nebraska, and Eshaunte Jones and Brandon Richardson added ten apiece.  The Huskers fall to 13-11 overall and 1-8 in the Big XII while Baylor is now 18-5 overall and 5-4 in the conference.

Kelsey Griffin scored 17 points and third ranked Nebraska remained unbeaten with a surprisingly tough, hard-fought 67-60 victory last night over injury-plagued Kansas.  After making only 6-23 shots in the first half and trailing 30-20 at intermission, the Jayhawks shocked the Cornhuskers by going 11-11 in a stunning second-half comeback.  Carolyn Davis tied it 41-all with a jumper and then LaChelda Jacobs gave Kansas a 43-41 lead when she stole the ball at mid court and drove in for a lay-up.  The Huskers scored 19 points off 19 turnovers by Kansas, which led 53-49 on Jacobs' jumper.  It was tied 55-55 when Yvonne Turner made a three-pointer and the Huskers never trailed again.  The Jayhawks have lost point guard Angel Goodrich and preseason All-Big XII player of the year Danielle McCray to season-ending knee injuries.  The Huskers are now 22-0 overall and 9-0 in the Big XII while Kansas falls to 14-8 overall and 4-5 in the conference.

Nebraska lawmakers have been asked to advance two bills that would mainly loosen current restrictions on fireworks. Under the proposals, the state could see an increase in the types of fireworks being sold. And the state fire marshal would no longer be required to test fireworks before they're sold. The state would rely solely on federal testing.
