Youth Philanthropy Contest Entries Now Accepted
NORFOLK - Young people of Northeast Nebraska are being asked “how do you want to make a difference in your own backyard?” The 2014 Youth Philanthropy Contest is now open for submissions, and Philanthropy Council member Tammy Day says those planning to enter a project are urged to complete the pre-application submission form available on the website PhilanthropyCouncilne.org. Day says it is only necessary to complete the first page at this time, and e-mail or send it in so that committee members can review the project and make sure it meets the criteria for the contest. The completed applications are due on February 1st, and should include some kind of visual component – a video, poster boards or samples of products to be made. She says the entries will be accepted that Saturday morning at the Lifelong Learning Center and judged in the afternoon. This year, 10 projects will receive $1,000 each from the Connie Fund and other donors. Day says that traditionally, more projects are funded at the Celebrate Giving event, which is scheduled for February 15th.
