YMCA celebrating 100 years in Norfolk

NORFOLK - 2013 marks the YMCA’s 100th year in Norfolk and Y officials are celebrating.  The current YMCA on Benjamin Avenue opened its doors in 1981.  The original YMCA sat across from the McMill Building on south 4th Street in an area that today is a parking lot.  The Y’s Marketing Director, Barb Preusker says open houses are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 to 1:30.  Then a big celebration is scheduled for Thursday evening from 6 to 8 with hot dogs, root beer floats and bouncy houses.  For more information, check the web site norfolkymca.org.
