Work Continues on Northeast Industrial Highway
MADISON - Dirt work and paving has probably ended for the year on the Northeast Industrial Highway project, but bridge work is expected to continue. Lee Klein, chairman of the Madison County Board of Commissioners, says he hopes the project to connect Highways 81 and 35 north of Norfolk will be completed by this time next year. Klein says the remaining bridges will be bid in mid-January. When completed, road will provide an alternate route for trucks going to and from Nucor, Norfolk Iron and Metal, Louis Dreyfus Commodities and other businesses northeast of the city. At Tuesday's meeting, the commissioners approved the final rigfht-of-way acquistions for the project.
