Woman Arrested for Hit and Run, Drugs
NORFOLK - A Norfolk woman who admitted she knew her vehicle did not have brakes was arrested Thursday on several charges, including possession of drugs. Police Captain Michael Bauer reports today that the vehicle, driven by 41-year-old Karina Dieter, struck a tree and chain link fence at 804 North 10th Street at about 1:45 Thursday afternoon. At the time of the accident, a mother and baby were near the damaged fence. Dieter’s vehicle was observed at 4:49 that afternoon in the 300 block of Pasewalk Avenue with its hazard lights on. Bauer says a search of the vehicle turned up a pipe with residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine. Dieter was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident, willful reckless driving and possession of a controlled substance. She was taken to the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
