Wisner Swimmer May Get Chance to Join Norfolk HS Team
NORFOLK - The Norfolk Public Schools Board of Education took the first of two votes Monday night to allow a Wisner-Pilger student to take part in swimming at Norfolk Senior High. Superintendent Dr. Jami Jo Thompson recommended the change. Thompson explained that the Nebraska Schools Activities Association allows no more than four schools in a co-op agreement, and Norfolk Public Schools already co-ops with Norfolk Catholic and Lutheran High Northeast. That means only one more school can be admitted to the co-op agreement. The board needs to approve the policy change on second reading next month. The request comes from Tim and Tracy Jacobsen of Wisner whose daughter, Lauren, will be a freshman in the fall. She has been a member of the Norfolk Aquajets swim team for six years, and would like to join the Norfolk High swim team.
