Winds Up To 60 MPH Thursday
OMAHA - A rarely-issued High Warning is posted for almost all of Nebraska Thursday. Meteorologist David Pearson, with the National Weather Service, says motorists across the state can expect to be dodging garbage cans, recycling bins and anything else that's not nailed down. A special warning goes out to drivers of high-profile vehicles. The winds will be out of the northwest, so vehicles headed down east-west corridors will be buffeted almost broadside. Pearson says blowing snow or dust could reduce visibility and make driving even more hazardous. Some of the alerts say winds may reach 60 miles an hour -- or stronger. At 74-miles an hour, it would be considered hurricane strength. Learn more about today's advisory at weather.gov.
