Wheels of Justice Spin Rapidly in Stanton County
STANTON - A 21-year-old Norfolk man arrested Tuesday for theft in Stanton County was sentenced already this morning in Stanton County Court. Sheriff Mike Unger says it is very unusual for a case to move that quickly through the justice system, but Michael Randles pleaded no contest this morning to the charge that he stole audio-related items from a rural Norfolk residence. County Judge Michael Long sentenced Randles to four months in the county jail. Also this morning, Judge Long sentenced Andrew McKinley, 20, of Norfolk to nine months in the county jail for driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest. McKinley was convicted of driving at speeds in excess of 120 miles per hour on Highway 275 on July 29th. Sheriff Unger was injured during that pursuit when his patrol vehicle left the roadway and rolled onto its top. Judge Long also revoked McKinley’s driving license for one year.
