Volunteers needed for busy Norfolk area weekend

NORFOLK - The last weekend of September will be a busy one in the Norfolk area – with activities planned in all corners of the city and in Pierce.  Kim Kwapnioski, director of the Norfolk Area Visitors Bureau says 10,000 or more people are expected in the area for the variety of events.  Among the activities planned between September 26th and 29th are the Lions Club fall parade, the 40th anniversary open house at Northeast Community College, Oktoberfest in downtown Norfolk, the Riverpoint Arts Festival in Johnson Park, a Foreigner concert at Divots, the Lambrecht car auction near Pierce, a bike ride, color run, and a powder puff football tournament.  To accommodate the 10’s of thousands of visitors expected, Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce President and C-E-O Dennis Houston says he is putting out a call for volunteers.
