Veterans Day Ceremonies Planned in Norfolk

NORFOLK - Several ceremonies and programs are planned Monday to celebrate Veterans Day in Norfolk. A flag raising is planned at 9 a.m. at the Norfolk Veterans Home and a flag ceremony will be held at the same time in front of the College Welcome Center at northeast Community College. At 10:15, a Veterans Day program will be presented at Norfolk Senior High, and another ceremony is planned at Norfolk Catholic High School at 1 p.m. And the Air Force Heartland of America Night Wing band will perform at 1 p.m. in the Cox Activities Center gymnasium at Northeast College. Veterans Day is traditionally celebrated on November 11th, the day the armistice was signed ending World War One. Because the 11th falls on Sunday, most celebrations are being held on Monday. Most government offices - federal, state, county and city - are also closed on Monday for the holiday.
