Two Pedestrians Injured in Saturday Morning Accident

NORFOLK - The driver involved in a car-pedestrian accident Saturday morning in downtown Norfolk has been cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian. Police Captain Mike Bauer says  Janice Gray, 64, of Chicago and Gail Gray, 62, of Norfolk were injured in the accident that occurred about 10:30 Saturday morning at the intersection of 4th Street and Norfolk Avenue. They were hit by a car driven by Elvera Miller, 72, of Norfolk.  Bauer says Miller was southbound on 4th Street and turning left onto Norfolk Avenue. The Grays were crossing Norfolk Avenue from south to north on the east side of the intersection. Miller says she was focusing on oncoming traffic, and did not see the pedestrians. Bauer reports that Gail Gray suffered a leg injury, while Janice Gray sustained a head injury. Both were transported to Faith Regional Health Services.
