Tips for Transitioning Farm to Next Generation
LINCOLN - Another year is almost over – but many farm families have moved no closer to a plan to transition their legacy from one generation to the next. Jolene Brown, a family business consultant, says both parties need to be considered when making a farm transition plan; the older generation needs to be financially stable and the younger generation needs to have enough resources to operate the farm. Brown says a family business isn't a birth-right. She says her goal is to make sure the family business is handled correctly so the family can be honored. Brown will give a presentation during the 21st National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s Cattlemen’s College in Nashville February 3rd and 4th. For more information, check the web site beefusa.org.
