Time to Change The Batteries

NORFOLK - Daylight Savings Time ends Sunday morning. But before you change the time, Norfolk Fire Marshall Terry Zweibel says you should change something else as well: the batteries in your smoke detectors. Zweibel says you should also make sure your smoke detectors are working properly.  He recommends a product called “smoke-in-a-can,” which can be purchased online.  He says pushing your smoke detector’s button confirms that the circuitry is working,  but not that it’s capable of detecting smoke.  Zweibel says most smoke detectors have life spans of about 10 years… if yours is older, he suggests you consider replacing it.
