Three Injured in Two Car Accidents This Weekend
Two separate traffic accidents in Stanton send three people to the hospital for treatment. Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger reports the first accident occurred just before 5:00 p.m. about 2 miles west of Pilger on U.S. Highway 275 when an eastbound SUV driven by 16 year-old Samantha Liermann of Pilger left the road after crossing the center line, hitting an embankment and rolling several times and landing in a ditch. Liermann and her 14 year-old sister Kari were taken to Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk by Pilger Rescue for treatment. Both girls were wearing their seatbelts, which is accredited to lessening their injuries. The vehicle was a total loss.At about 7:00 p.m. 52-year-old Leona Arbogast was westbound on Highway 24 about 3 miles west of Stanton when she struck a deer. She was transported to Faith Regional by Stanton Rescue where she was treated and released. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident but the airbag in her vehicle did deploy.
