Superintendent's Survey Identifies Strengths, Challenges

NORFOLK - Patrons of the Norfolk Public School district were invited to take part in a Superintendent’s Survey at the beginning of the school year.  At Monday night’s meeting of the Board of Education, Superintendent Dr. Jami Jo Thompson said the survey pointed out both strengths and challenges.  Thompson told the board that the district's strengths include the dedicated staff, the athletic and activities programs, and parent and community support; challenges include communication, technology intigration and staff morale.  Thompson says the survey results were shared with the participants at last month’s strategic planning sessions. She says one concern she has is that the general public tends to view 21st Century learning skills as simply an increased use of technology. She says the concept includes critical thinking skills, collaboration, communication, creativity and problem solving skills.
