Suicide Prevention Coalition to Receive Big Check

NORFOLK - A celebration will be held Tuesday night for a Blue Cross-Blue Shield wellness grant awarded to a local organization.  The $10,000 check will be presented at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church on Benjamin Avenue.  Donna Wolff, president and co-founder of the Northeast Nebraska Coalition for Suicide Education and Prevention says the check represents a wellness grant awarded to the group for its Healthy Body, Healthy Minds program. Following the check presentation and balloon release, refreshments will be served. The monthly meeting of the Survivors of Suicide Support Group will begin at 7 p.m.  The coalition serves residents of Antelope, Boone, Cedar, Cuming, Knox, Madison, Pierce, Platte, Stanton and Wayne counties.  Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Nebraska has awarded 52 wellness grants in the past six years, totaling more than $533,000. This year, the company is awarding $82,300 in wellness grants to nine organizations across  the state to build healthier communities.
