Strong Storms Bring High Wind

NORFOLK - Strong thunderstorms passed through northeast Nebraska overnight. The storms packed 60-to-70 mile per hour winds which caused tree damage around Columbus and Albion, northeast through Norfolk, Stanton and Wayne. The Norfolk area was under a severe thunderstorm warning through 12:45 a.m. 72 miles per hour winds were record at Stanton at 12:05 this morning. A peak wind gust of 68 miles per hour was recorded at the Norfolk Regional Airport at 11:56 p.m. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain fell at the downtown studios of WJAG Radio during the storm.
