State Patrol Arrests Fleeing Suspect
NORFOLK - A 26-year-old Omaha man faces several charges because of a high-speed pursuit in the West Point area Saturday evening. The Nebraska State Patrol reports that Damien Lovell Foster was arrested about 11 p.m. Saturday for flight to avoid arrest, obstructing a police officer, possession of more than an ounce of marijuana and several traffic offenses. The Patrol reports that Foster was allegedly the driver of a vehicle that fled from officers in excess of 100 miles per hour along Highway 275 between the Pilger junction and the north edge of West Point at 6:20 Saturday evening. The vehicle was stopped by a spike strip, and the driver ran from the scene. Officers from several law enforcement agencies assisted in the hunt for the driver, who was arrested near Fremont nearly five hours later when a State Patrol officer conducting a traffic stop recognized the passenger as the suspect involved in the pursuit.
