State lawmakers to receive proposed budget Wednesday

LINCOLN - State lawmakers officially receive the budget proposed for the next two years Wednesday.  Appropriations Committee Chairman Senator Heath Mello of Omaha told colleagues he's pleased with the 7-point-8-billion dollar spending blueprint, which has 41-to-48 million dollars available for bills that will require extra spending.  The proposed budget increases spending over the next two years by slightly more than 5-percent, a bit higher than the budget proposed by Governor Dave Heineman.  The legislature will begin debate on the budget next week.
