State High School One-Acts at Johnny Carson Theater Next Week

NORFOLK - Young actors from Hyannis to Osceola and Hemingford to Pawnee City will be in Norfolk next week for the State High School One-Act Play Production Championships. Sports Development Manager for the Norfolk Area Sports Council Mike Fuhrer says the Norfolk Area Visitors Bureau has been working for two years to get the state championship event to the Johnny Carson Theatre, what he calls the Taj Mahal of the state's high school facilites.  The competition begins Wednesday with Classes D-2 and D1.  Classes C-2 and C-1 perform Thursday, while actors in Classes B and A take the stage Friday.  Several Northeast Nebraska schools have already qualified including Ewing, Wausa, Hartington, West Point Guardian Angels and Wisner-Pilger.  Norfolk Catholic competes in its Class B district Friday at Wayne State College, while Norfolk Senior High's cast and crew travel to Kearney Saturday for thier Class A district in Kearney.
