Stanton County Commissioner Resigns
STANTON - A Stanton County Commissioner has resigned, apparently because he no longer lives in the district he was elected to represent. According to the Norfolk Daily News, William Goodpasture resigned this morning following a 10-minute closed session that included a representative of the Nebraska State Patrol. Goodpasture has served on the Stanton County Board for five years. The other two Stanton County Commissioners are Jerry Weatherholt and Dennis Kment. A committee that includes County Attorney Bert Lammli, County Clerk Martha Detlefsen and County Treasurer Sandy Zoubek has 45 days to pick Goodpasture's replacement. In May, Madison County Commissioner Rick Uhlir resigned from his seat. He also was the subject of a State Patrol investigation for allegedly not living in the district he was elected to represent.
