Mark Reynolds hit a three-run homer to lead Baltimore to a 12-0 pounding of Toronto, moving the Orioles into a tie for the lead in the American League East.  It's the first time since 1997 that Baltimore has held at least a share of the lead.  Reynolds went 3-4 with four RBIs as the Orioles pounded out a season-high 18 hits.  Zach Britton pitched seven innings to win his fourth straight start.  Baltimore caught up with the Yankees for the AL East lead after Tampa Bay beat New York 5-2.  Evan Longoria, Desmond Jennings and B.J. Alabama is the new number one in the Associated Press college football poll, moving past Southern California after its resounding victory against Michigan,  The Crimson Tide swayed more than enough voters with its 41-14 win Saturday night in Texas to overtake the preseason top ranked Trojans, who beat Hawaii 49-10.  USC entered that game a 40-point favorite at home.  The Tide received 45 first-place votes, up 28 from last week.  USC drew eleven first-place votes and third ranked LSU collected four.  It's the 47th time Alabama has been number one, the 16th under coach Nick Saban.  Nebraska is ranked 16th after its opening win on Saturday.  UCLA, the Huskers' foe this Saturday, is not ranked.

Omaha Storm Chasers outfielder and third baseman Will Myers has been named Baseball America’s & USA Today’s 2012 minor league player of the year.  Myers is the third Royals farmhand to win the award since its inception in 1981, joining Tom Gordon in 1988 and Alex Gordon in 2006.  Myers, began 2012 at Double-A Northwest Arkansas where he batted .343 with 13 home runs and 30 runs batted in 35 games.  After his promotion to Omaha in mid-May, Myers continued to play at an extremely high level, batting .304 with 15 doubles, five triples, 24 homers and 79 RBIs in 99 regular-season games.  His 37 home runs between the Double-A and Triple-A levels were the second-most in Minor League Baseball while his 109 RBIs were the fourth-most in Minor League Baseball.
