The Miami Heat’s immediate focus remains overcoming a 2-1 NBA Finals deficit to the San Antonio Spurs, but discussions have begun within the organization about trying to grow their so-called Big Three into a Big Four, according to sources close to the situation.  Sources told ESPN.com that Heat officials and the team's leading players have already started to explore their options for creating sufficient financial flexibility to make an ambitious run at adding New York Knicks scoring machine Carmelo Anthony this summer in free agency.  The mere concept would require the star trio of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh to opt out of their current contracts by the end of the month and likely take further salary reductions in new deals that start next season to give Miami the ability to offer Anthony a representative first-year salary.

Henrik Lundqvist made 40 saves and the New York Rangers avoided a four-game sweep in the Stanley Cup finals by downing the Los Angeles Kings 2-1.  Lundqvist was perfect while the Rangers were outshot 15-1 in the third period, and he didn't allow a goal after Dustin Brown tallied midway through the game.  Martin St. Louis scored the eventual game-winner 6 ½ minutes into the second period after Benout Pouliot opened the scoring 7:25 after the opening faceoff.

A trial has been scheduled July 15 in Los Angeles probate court to determine whether Donald Sterling was properly removed as an administrator for the family trust that owns the Clippers.  Sterling's estranged wife, Sherry, sought the trial to confirm that as sole trustee she can proceed with a $2 billion sale of the team to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch is expected to skip the mandatory team minicamp next week because he wants a contract extension, sources confirmed last night.  Today is the final day of organized team activities for Seattle, voluntary workouts that Lynch has not attended over the last three weeks.  Lynch, 28, is starting the third year of a four-year deal that is worth $30 million, including $6 million in signing bonus.  His base salary this season is $5 million and counts $7 million against the salary cap.  The final year of the deal in 2015 would cost $9 million against the cap and pay Lynch $5.5 million in base salary.  If Lynch skips the three-day minicamp that begins Tuesday, it will cost him $70,000 in fines.  The Seahawks acquired Lynch in a trade with Buffalo in 2010.  He has rushed for over 1,000 yards each of the last three seasons, including 1,257 yards and 14 touchdowns in helping the Seahawks win the Super Bowl last season.

Nebraska sophomore Maggie Malone finished fourth in the javelin with a toss of 181’3, while freshman Jazmin McCoy added a sixth-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 20-8½.  The Lincoln Journal Star reports that after the first day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., the Husker women, with eight points, are tied for fourth in the team standings, five points back of leader Oregon.  On the men's side, Nebraska senior Miles Ukaoma ran the second-fastest qualifying time in the 400-meter hurdles.  His time of 49.70 seconds trailed only Kansas junior Michael Stigler’s time of 49.34.  Husker sophomore Mate Koronai finished ninth and just missed a spot in Friday's finals.
