The Portland Trail Blazers and Houston Rockets each had two players picked as reserves for the NBA All-Star game, while the Indiana Pacers had to settle for just Roy Hibbert despite the league's best record.  LaMarcus Aldridge and Damian Lillard made it from the Trail Blazers, who have been among the Western Conference leaders all season.  Dwight Howard, who was passed late in fan voting for a starting spot, was chosen yesterday along with Houston teammate James Harden.  Old reliables Chris Paul, Tony Parker and Dirk Nowitzki round out the West reserves for the Feb. 16 game in New Orleans.  The rest of the East reserves are: Miami's Chris Bosh, Washington's John Wall, Toronto's DeMar DeRozan, Brooklyn's Joe Johnson, Chicago's Joakim Noah and Atlanta's Paul Millsap.

Terran Petteway led four players in double figures by scoring 13 of his 18 points in the second half, and Nebraska came back from a 16-point deficit to defeat Indiana 60-55 last night.  The Cornhuskers won for the third time in four games and back-to-back conference games for the first time in their three years in the Big Ten.  They also improved to 10-1 at Pinnacle Bank Arena.  The Hoosiers have lost three of their last four.  Yogi Ferrell, who made 4-7 three-pointers, led Indiana with 14 points.  Nebraska is now 11-9 overall and 3-5 in the Big Ten while the Hoosiers are now 13-8 overall and 3-5 in the conference.

Joe Reed scored 20 points as Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne topped Nebraska-Omaha 86-82 last night.  IPFW shot 52% from the field, including 9-22 on three-point attempts.  Justin Simmons led UNO with 28 points, including four three-pointers.  John Karhoff added 19 while Devin Patterson had twelve points.  The Mavericks drop to 12-9 overall and 2-4 in the Summit while IPFW is now 17-6 overall and 5-1 in the league.

Wayne State was picked to finish seventh in the 2014 NSIC Preseason Softball Coaches Poll.  The Wildcats return all nine position starters and the team's top three pitchers from last season that was 28-16 overall and finished tied for sixth in the NSIC with a 17-9 league mark.  Minnesota State, last year's NSIC regular season CO-champion, and Winona State, last year's NCAA Central Region II champion, tied for first in this year's preseason poll.  Listed as players to watch for Wayne State this season in the NSIC are juniors Sara Scheffert and Kaiti Williams.  The Wildcats are scheduled to open the season on February 21 against Nebraska-Kearney in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Ryan Rolfzen of Wayne State was named to the Capital One Academic All-District VII Men's Basketball First Team.  Rolfzen, a 6'7 senior forward from Papillion, maintains a 3.99 grade point average majoring in exercise science in the classroom.  On the court, he currently ranks third on the Wildcat team in scoring at 9.9 points a game and leads the club in three-point field goals made with 32.
