Northeast Nebraska All-Star Basketball Classic held at Cox Activites Center
Northeast Community College held their 30th annual Northeast Nebraska High School All-Star Basketball Classic on Friday night. In the boys game, the 'Light' team defeated the 'Dark' squad 82-72. The 'Light' team's Matt Gooch of Howells/Dodge had 17 points and ten rebounds in the win. Teammate Jonathan Guenther of West Point Guardian Angles added 17 points and five boards. Nate Rogers of South Sioux City had eleven points and Mitch Knobbe of Lutheran High Northeast added ten. The 'Dark' team was led by Randolph's Grant Anderson 15 points and seven boards. Teammate Nick Martin of Ainsworth had eleven points and Stanton's Adam Krentz added ten. The 'Light' squad outscored the 'Dark' 25-8 in the second quarter to take control of the game. Gooch & Anderson were named the Fred Letheby Most Valuable Players. In the girls contest, the 'Dark' team outscored the 'Light' squad 79-74. Alyssa Frauendorfer of Humphrey High scored 25 points and had six rebounds in the win for the 'Dark' squad. Osmond teammates Laurel Krohn had 14 points and Carissa Gutz added 13. Michaela Barry of Norfolk Catholic led the 'Light' team with 19 points while teammate Bridget Arens of Crofton added 18 points and ten rebounds. The score was tied 58-58 after three quarters with the 'Dark' outscoring the 'Light' 21-16 in the fourth quarter. Frauendorfer and Arens were named the Fred Letheby Most Valuable Players.
