Northeast Hawks basketball split with Iowa Western

    The Northeast Hawks basketball teams earned a split with Iowa Western Community College on Saturday night at the Cox Activities Center.  In the men’s game, the Hawks fell to the sixth ranked in Division I Reivers 83-67.  KJ Bluford led four players in double figures for the Hawks with 15 points.  Teammate Khapri Alston added 13 points, six rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Kyle Kilgore had twelve points and seven boards and teammate Blake Heppner pumped in ten points and six rebounds.  Iowa Western led 42-29 at halftime.  The Hawks drop to 14-9 on the season and have lost four of their last five games.  
    In the women’s game, Northeast upset 14th ranked Iowa Western 76-65.  Jaylan Spencer had 17 points, ten rebounds, and two steals to lead four players in double figures for the Hawks.  Teammate Raveen Murray added 15 points and seven rebounds.  Lexi Murphy had 13 points and two steals and Alison Klostergaard recorded a double-double with eleven points and ten boards.  Northeast led at halftime 37-36.  They improve to 20-2 on the year and have won nine games in a row and ten of their last eleven.
