Nebraska Lawdawg football team beats Kansas in Great Plains Bowl
The Nebraska Lawdawg football team wrapped up its 2012 campaign by beating the Kansas Spartans 24-14 at home Saturday in the Great Plains Bowl. Lawdawg quarterback Chuck Wright threw two first quarter touchdowns to tight end Julian Thomas to stake the Norfolk based semi-pro team to a 14-0 lead. Wright finished 20-32 for 214 yards and two scores in the win. Thomas hauled in five passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns. Teammate Ray Wilson ran for a touchdown last in the third quarter to give Nebraska a 21-14 lead. Kansas scored two touchdowns in the third quarter to tie the game at 14-14. The Lawdawgs outgained the Spartans in yardage 286-250. Kansas had 14 penalties for 112 yards compared to Nebraska’s five infractions for 40 yards. Brown combined for 236 yards of total offense while tight end Michael Hollingsworth caught four balls for 134 yards and a touchdown. The Lawdawgs final record is 6-4 while the Spartans finish 3-7.
