Hawks women's basketball team wins; Hawks men fall
The NJCAA 13th ranked in Division I Northeast Hawks women’s basketball team routed Southwestern Community College of Creston, Iowa on the road on Saturday 83-47. The Hawks have now won 13 games in a row and 14 of their last 15 improving to 24-2 on the season. Jaylan Spencer scored 18 points, Lexi Murphy had 14, and Ivana Vuletic pumped in ten points in the win. The win also marked head coach Matt Svehla’s 450th of his career. Svehla is now 450-152 in his coaching career for a win percentage of .748.
The Northeast men lost at home to Southeastern of Iowa 88-61. They fall to 15-12 on the year and have dropped four of their last five games. Sean Scott scored 14 points, had six rebounds, and blocked three shots in the loss. Teammate Sean McGary had 14 points and KJ Bluford added ten points.
