Shooter Sought in Death of Grand Island Lawyer
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (AP) - Police in Grand Island are searching for a suspect in the shooting death of a local attorney outside his law office. Fifty-two-year-old Todd Elsbernd was shot in the torso around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday as he was standing by a red truck parked outside his law office downtown. He was taken to St. Francis Medical Center, where he died. At a news conference Thursday morning, Police Chief Steve Lamken said authorities are still searching for the shooter. Witnesses told police that the shooter had been parked in a public parking lot near the scene for "a considerable length of time before the shooting," according to Lamken. Lamken says investigators believe the man shot Elsbernd with a rifle. Lamken says two shots were fired.
