Senior projects on display Thursday at Norfolk Arts Center
NORFOLK - This week is National Assisted Living Week, and the Norfolk Arts Center is joining in the celebration with an art display of the work of residents of area assisted living centers. Jeri Volk and Kathy Eddy are members of the Northeast Nebraska Art Association. They visit The Madison House, The Meadows, Skyline Villa and The Homestead one day each month, bringing along all of the materials needed for an art lesson. The work created by residents during those sessions will be on display for a few days at the Norfolk Arts Center, and a reception is planned Thursday afternoon from 1 until 2:30 to honor the artists. More than 60 pieces will be on display. Volk says many of the residents were too busy with jobs, farms and families when they were younger to visit art galleries or study art. She says she is amazed at the artwork they have created. The assisted living art exhibit will only be on display a few days.
