Senate Republicans Express Concerts to EPA Administrator
WASINGTON, D.C. - Nebraska Sen. Mike Johanns says he's pleased EPA Administration Gina McCarthy met with Republicans on the Senate Agriculture Committee. But Johanns says he's not optimistic the meeting will convince McCarthy to keep the EPA from regulating waterways on farms. Johanns says there is little incentive for the President to scale back on its efforts to add federal regulations. "The Obama Administration recognizes that they only have a couple of years left," said Johanns. "I just think you're going to see a blizzard of regulations over the next two years and five months." Johanns says a proposed expansion of the Clean Water Act could cost farmers in both permit fees and fines.
