School Children Help NECC's O'Neill Extended Campus Effort

NORFOLK - All but about $300,000 has been raised for the proposed new $2.8 million Northeast Community College Extended Campus facility in O’Neill.  The entire North Central Nebraska community has gotten behind the campaign, including the kids.  O’Neill Public Schools Superintendent Amy Shane says she spoke with the staff and students at the beginning of the school year and emphasized the importance of the new facility.  She says she asked each student to contribute a dollar or two and staff members to give based on their position.  They raised almost $8,000.  The O’Neill extended campus facility will be constructed on Highway 275 just west of the Farm Credit Services building.  Once all of the funds have been raised, it will take workers 12-to-18 months to build it.  Northeast officials would like to have it ready for classes at the beginning of the 2015-16 school year.
