Ribbon Cutting Held for Railroad Bridge
NORFOLK - If you were sitting at one of Norfolk's railroad crossings for a long time late this morning, it was because of a special ceremony officially opening a new railroad bridge just south of the Knights of Columbus hall. Richard Bertel, chairman and CEO of Nebraska Central Railroad, says his company made a $2-million investment in the bridge because of an expected increase in traffic. Construction on the project began on September 11th, and was completed one month later on October 11th. Nebraska Central provides rail service for many Norfolk businesses, including Nucor, Norfolk Iron and Metal and the Louis Dreyfus ethanol plant.
