Ribbon Cutting at Covidien

A ribbon cutting was held Thursday to celebrate a new expansion at the Covidien plant on South Highway 81. A 35,700 square foot addition is under construction, and 30 new jobs will be created through the expansion. Covidien President of Medical Supplies Jim Clemmer says there were several communities where this expansion COULD have been built, but Norfolk was chosen because of the consistency the company has found here. Clemmer says the Norfolk Covidien will be the only facility he knows of where every possible size of medical syringe will be produced in a single plant. Governor Dave Heineman, Speaker of the Legislature Mike Flood, Mayor Sue Fuchtman and other dignitaries took part in the ribbon cutting.
