A 24-year-old Stanton woman faces charges of first degree arson and making terroristic threats for an incident that occurred late last year in Norfolk. Police Captain Mike Bauer says Johna Richards was arrested Wednesday after an investigation into a fire in the hallway of an apartment building at 304 South Hickory that was reported at 12:48 a.m. on the morning of December 29th. A man in the apartment building said he had received threatening messages on Facebook, and a search warrant for Facebook led officers to Richards. Bauer says the suspect was contacted on April 4th, and arrested yesterday at the Norfolk Probation Office. Richards was taken to the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
Authorities say an 8-year-old girl who was involved in a Fremont collision had been fatally injured at her home when a television fell on her head. The Fremont Police Department released autopsy results Thursday on the body of Eva Imus, who died March 25 at a hospital. She was already being rushed to the hospital by her brother when his car struck another. Fremont Police Chief Jeff Elliott says autopsy results show the girl died from head injuries. Elliott says Eva apparently was trying to open a dresser drawer when the old, tube-type television atop the dresser toppled forward onto her.
