Nebraska defensive tackle Jared Crick has announced his intention to return to school for the 2011 season. The 6’6, 285-pound Crick has been one of the nation's most dominant defenders over the past two seasons. He has recorded 9 ½ sacks each of the past two seasons, and has a total of 32 tackles for loss in the past two years. Crick has 143 tackles in the past two seasons, including 70 in 2010 to rank third for the Nebraska Blackshirt defense. He has earned first-team All-Big XII honors each of the past two seasons and this season he was chosen as a first-team All-American by Rivals.com, while earning second-team All-America honors from the Associated Press, CBS Sports.com and SI.com. Crick is one eight regular starters on defense who will return for the 2011 season, including three members of the Blackshirt defensive line.

An investigation by the Nebraska State Patrol says a man who sent e-mails using violent imagery to members of the Legislature's Judiciary Committee posed no threat to lawmakers. Still, the committee's chairman says he'll install metal detectors during an upcoming hearing.
Senator Deb Fischer of Valentine has introduced a bill to designate a half cent of the state's current sales tax levy for repairing current roads and building new ones. She says the current method of financing road repair and construction in Nebraska is not generating enough revenue.
Officials say a $50 million project that will give the south-central Nebraska city of Kearney a second Interstate 80 interchange has been approved by U.S. and Nebraska agencies. A $15 million interchange project will provide better access to the Great Platte River Road Archway Monument. The remaining $35 million will be spent on a four-lane divided highway that will head north from I-80, eventually crossing over U.S. Highway 30.
Former students at Millard South High School recalled assistant principal Vicki Kaspar as being firm but caring during a service in Omaha. Tuesday's funeral for Kaspar, who died after a student shot her last week, drew family, friends and students who shared memories of the 58-year-old woman.
A snow day turned scary for two Lincoln children. The 12-year-old girl and her 10-year-old sibling heard someone break in through a door. The children hid in a bedroom, where the girl called police. Officers say the burglars fled the scene Monday when they realized there were people home. Nothing was stolen, and police are checking a nearby bank's surveillance footage to see if they can catch the bandits on tape.
The WJAG Northeast Nebraska Farm and Equipment Show kicks off Thursday, postponed one day because of weather conditions that prevented exhibitors from setting up on Tuesday. The 24th annual show will be held in the Northeast Community College Ag Complex, with open hours from 9-to-5 Thursday and 9-to-4 Friday.
The last remaining member of the family that was the subject of "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" has died. A family spokesman says David Nelson died Tuesday at his Los Angeles home after battling complications of colon cancer. He was 74. The other members of the TV family were David's teen idol brother Rick Nelson, their actor/bandleader father Ozzie Nelson and his singer wife, Harriet Hilliard.
