Prayers Encouraged for Injured Football Player

NORFOLK - Former Sacred Heart pastor Father Walter Nolte, now with St. Bernard's parish in Omaha, has declared today as "Fast for Pfeifer Day," encouraging everyone to pray for Norfolk Catholic Senior Isaac Pfeifer who was injured earlier this week in a state playoff football game. Isaac's father, Neil Pfeifer, says his son had surgery yesterday to graft some bone from his hip onto one of his cervical vertebrae, but he still has no feeling in his lower body.  Neil Pfeifer says Isaac will be moved to a rehabilitation facility, probably Madonna in Lincoln, sometime next week. He says it could be as much as six months or a year before doctors know the extent of Isaac's injury. Pfeifer says the support for his family has been overwhelming. The family is posting information about Isaac's recovery on the site caringbridge.org.
