Poll Workers Report Heavy, Steady Turnout
NORFOLK - Poll workers in Norfolk are reporting good voter turnout for today's General Election. At Mount Olive Lutheran Church and the City Auditorium, workers described the turnout as heavy - and steady. The Meadows and St. John's Lutheran Church were also busy voting sites this morning. Some voters at the Meadows reported standing in line for up to 30 minutes to vote, while at St. John's, voting generally took less than five minutes. Madison County Clerk Nancy Scheer says the highest percentage voter turnout in the past 30 years was 73% in 1992, and she was hoping to approach - or even exceed - that record.
