Police are ticketing unregistered vehicles
NORFOLK - In response to complaints from citizens, Norfolk Police are actively working to eliminate unregistered vehicles from yards and empty lots.
Police Captain Leon Chapman says the storage of unlicensed, inoperable, wrecked or junked vehicles and trailers is not allowed within the city limits of Norfolk on residential or private property. Uniformed officers are making contact with residents and property owners, asking for a current license or registration. If one is not available, the resident or property owner has 30 days to rectify the problem, either making sure the vehicle is properly licensed and registered, or removed from the property. Failure to either move or license the vehicle can lead to a citation and a fine of $500 plus court hosts. Each day the vehicle is not moved or licensed can result in a separate citation and fine.
