Pipeline Supporters Tout of Economic Benefits
Supporters of the Keystone XL pipeline tout its economic benefits, and claim it will have little, if any, negative impact on the environment.Michael Whatley with Consumer Energy Alliance says it is past time to begin construction on the $7-billion project.TransCanada proposed building the pipeline from western Canada to oil refineries along the Gulf Coast in Texas, a distance of 1700 miles.A hearing on the project was held Tuesday night in Albion. More than 100 people testified, and the meeting lasted until about 2 a.m. Wednesday.
