Petersburg Woman Sentenced for Theft of $100,000
MADISON (AP) - A 51-year-old northeast Nebraska woman who stole more than $100,000 from her employer has been given 180 days in jail, five years of probation and ordered to make restitution. Court records say Connie Lantis, of Petersburg, pleaded no contest to a felony charge of theft. Prosecutors say Lantis stole the money from Madison Farm Supply in Madison. She was a secretary there for more than six years and handled billing and other bookkeeping duties. The records say Lantis must serve 48 hours each weekend for 11 consecutive weeks, then 48 hours on August weekends over her five years of probation. The judge says the remaining jail time then is to be served at the end of her probation, unless waived by the court.
