Pennsylvania Company Fined for Norfolk Steel Plant Death

NORFOLK . (AP) - State regulators have cited a Pennsylvania steel mill service company following the death of a worker at a Nebraska steel plant. In October, 58-year-old Perry Hoemann, of Hoskins, was killed and another 49-year-old worker injured at the Nucor Steel plant when a piece of machinery they were working on broke loose and hit their pay loader. Hoemann was working with employees of Tube City IMS - based in Glassport, Penn. - when the accident occurred. Nebraska's Occupational Safety and Health Administration office issued two citations to Tube City for employees being exposed to work hazards. The penalty is $14,000. The company has 15 days to accept or contest the violations.
