Osborn launches U.S. Senate campaign
NORFOLK - Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Shane Osborn says government needs to be less involved with small business. Osborn – a former Nebraska State Treasurer – says he has started several businesses, and has had a first-hand look at how government regulations stifle entrepreneurship. Osborn made his candidacy for the Republican nomination for Senate official Thursday with stops in Grand Island, Columbus and his hometown of Norfolk. He plans to continue to travel around Nebraska over the months leading up to the May Primary, making sure Nebraskans understand that he wants to represent all of the state. Osborn is a graduate of Norfolk Senior High who came to international attention when he successfully landed his surveillance plane on a Chinese island in 2001. Osborn and his crew were held captive for 11 days before being released.
