O'Neill City Council pledges $750,000 for new NECC extended campus
O'NEILL - The City of O’Neill is providing a major financial boost toward a campaign to construct a new Northeast Community College extended campus in the community. Members of the O’Neill City Council voted unanimously last week to approve $750,000 over five years through the use of an extra half-cent in sales tax dollars in L-B 840 funds approved by voters in May of 2012. The proposed new O’Neill extended campus is to be located just west of the Farm Credit Services building on Highway 275. With the commitment of the City, the camptign has reached 50 percent of its goal with cash and pledges of more than $1.25 million. Once the funds have been secured, it will take workers 12 to 18 months to complete the project. Officials have a goal of opening the new facility in the fall of 2015.
