Ohio Educator Named Chancellor of UNMC
OMAHA (AP) - The University of Nebraska Board of Regents has approved the appointment of an Ohio educator to be chancellor of the University of Nebraska Medical Center. The board voted Friday for Dr. Jeffrey Gold to take over for Dr. Harold Mauer. Gold has been chancellor of the medical college at the University of Toledo. Gold's selection was announced Wednesday by the president of the Nebraska system, James Milliken. Mauer will be leaving the chancellor's post to raise money for UNMC's cancer center. UNMC has an annual operating budget of about $600 million, a staff of more than 5,000 and about 3,700 students in various medical disciplines. Gold's starting salary will be $775,000, plus standard university employee benefits. His starting date is still being determined.
