Northeast Receives Scholoarship Money from Golf Tourney

NORFOLK - Northeast Community College’s Scholarship coffers increased by $16,000 last week thanks to a mid-September golf tournament.  The Elks Country Club in Columbus was the site of the Wells Fargo Nebraska Open Pro-Am earlier this year.  Wells Fargo sponsored the event while the Nebraska Public Power District coordinated it.  The tournament raised $80,000 for Nebraska’s community colleges.  At last week’s meeting of the college’s Board of Governors, representatives from Wells Fargo and NPPD presented a check for $16,000 to Northeast President Dr. Michael Chipps. Wells Fargo and NPPD have raised $1.2 million for Nebraska’s community colleges through the Wells Fargo-Nebraska Open since 1991.
