Northeast Board of Governors names patio area in honor of past presidnet

NORFOLK - The Northeast Community College Board of Governors has approved a recommendation to name a new patio area on the Norfolk campus “Paradise Courtyard” after former college president Dr. Michael Paradise.  Dr. Tracy Kruse, associate vice president of development and external affairs, says Paradise was president in 1968 when the move began to merge the state’s junior colleges and technical colleges into the current community college system.  Paradise is a native of the Greek island of Crete. He came to the United States in 1951. In addition to his time at Northeast Nebraska College, he also served as president of the former Central Technical Community College in Hastings and has held other positions at Chadron State College, as well as in Alaska, Minnesota and South Dakota. He currently lives in Aberdeen, South Dakota.  Paradise Courtyard is a covered area with seating adjacent to the College Welcome Center. The college board voted unanimously yesterday (Thursday) to accept the Facilities Naming Task Force recommendation.
