Norfolk's Economic Devlopment Future

NORFOLK - Cities like Norfolk are always hoping to land some type of big industry to help its economy. But in this day and age, those types of corporations are likely looking at locating in the south or overseas. That's why Center of Rural Entrepreneurship Director of Research Deb Markley says local economic development has to focus more on business retention and expansion. She says that also includes people who want to start their own businesses. Markley, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina presented her findings from an August trip to Norfolk at a meeting Monday night at the Lifelong Learning Center.
