Norfolk Police make 3 weekend arrests

NORFOLK -Norfolk Police officers made three arrests over the weekend – two for driving under the influence and one for possession of methamphetamines. Police Captain Michael Bauer reports that Eric Graber, 34, was arrested about 6:30 Friday morning when he was found sleeping in a parked vehicle at 1200 South Chestnut. Bauer says several used syringes and baggies were located in Graber’s vehicle with residue that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Graber was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail. Bauer says Jeffery Speidel,44, of Norfolk was arrested about 12:20 Sunday morning for driving under the influence of alcohol first offense with a blood alcohol content above point-one-five. Officers had talked with Speidel about 15 minutes before that when he was NOT driving but appeared to be intoxicated. At that time, they offered him a ride, which he refused.  A little more than an hour later, at 1:47 a.m., officers arrested Mauricio Menchu, 25, of Norfolk, also for first offense DUI with a blood alcohol content above point-one-five. Menchu’s vehicle was observed swerving on the road and driving through the ditch near Square Tire at 2201 Pasewalk Avenue. Both Speidel and Menchu were held in the Norfolk City Jail and released after posting a cash bond.
